Now would be the holiday season for most universities. So yeah, that means most of the people are back! Just went out for dinner with Kenaina and Kim Teck 2 nights ago. Haha! Only took photos of my food, forgotten to take the people:p

Went to Desserts for a drink and chit-chat. The stuff there damn expensive, but nice la.

So here's what I had for dinner...

Bitten

As I was cycling just now,
I was bitten by a huge black dog.

Ouch!
The dog chased me but didn't expect it would give me a love bite.
Hahaha!

It gave me two love bites on my big right thigh.
Guess it's big and too delicious to bite.

Waka Waka 2010

me likey~

Bola Bola Bola!

Yea... I know it has started quite some time ago. Remember the last world cup which was in 2006, where I actually woke up at 2am to watch the finals between Italy and France.

It was a school day though and guess what? I had a terrible day ahead. Haha! Those who stayed up to watch were actually sleeping in class the whole day. Well, personally I'm not a football fanatic like some others. But just to join the fun. Heh...

For this year, I did not watch most of the matches because it's just too late. I would catch up with some of the earlier matches if possible.

And most recent match watched...

North Korea just got THRASHED by Portugal

Huhu! It's a 7 - 0

Entirely no chance for the Koreans

Experience

As you know I've completed teaching my course for the first intake. So for the past three weeks, I don't have any class. Instead, work is still on. Can't get salary without working right? Haha!

So I was helping the college to do some student service work. Since the second intake for the year is starting, which is next Monday; many things to be done for the past few weeks. The Marketing Department would be the busiest this period of time.

So yeah, I got myself involved in all of these. Besides teaching, I've learnt new things and gain more experience. In the Marketing Office, you get to see all sorts of students and parents. LOL... Sometimes the same parent can find you everyday talking/complaining about the same thing over and over again. Sometimes I also wonder whether are the children studying or they themselves.

Besides that, I became of the driver too. Heh... Able to drive the Hilux and the Hiace van. I've not been driving with a manual gear for a long time, so here's a chance to revise my skills. Haha! Well, being in student service; need to pick the outstation students and help them this and that lo. Become their driver if needed. Sometimes, driver for parents too :p

Finally, next Monday! Again, I'll be starting my lectures for the second intake again.

Bario Trip - Part 2

Day 3 - Tuesday - 1/6/2010
Alright, today we decided to do some climbing. oO... The hill was really steep but good exercise though. Thumbs up!

There we go! We reached the church, where people come to pray sometimes. Wah! Imagine the path you need to go through, climb half dead just to reach here. The air there was cooler. Nice~

View from the church

On the way back, we stopped by to see someone making bricks.
RM1 for one bricks.

It's the end of harvest season. Here we see workers clearing up the paddy field, going to start their plantation in a month or two. Too bad I couldn't see the harvest season; everywhere is gold colour.

Misty and cool evening

Day 4 - Wednesday - 2/6/2010

Home Sweet Home.

When I was in Bario, I totally forgot about everything especially my problems. As soon as I touched down in Miri airport, everything just come back to my mind again. Haih... wish I can live a life in Bario where you feel so free.

I really had a good rest over there, relax myself; away from the city life.

I would love to make a trip back there again.

...some day, I will.

Bario Trip - Part 1

Last Sunday, I was on my holiday trip with John to Bario; just came back two days ago. We took a flight using the Twin-Otter plane which took us about 50 minutes or you can travel by land from Miri using a 4WD for 12 hours(good weather condition). My accommodation and food were taken care, so I just need to pay for my air ticket.

The first thing in mind when we hear about that place would be their RICE. Yeah, no doubt it's a better kind of rice. But there are more things I've discovered during my stay over there.
Bario it's a highland located in a flat valley surrounded by mountains.

So here are few common things you find:-

1. First, it's a village surrounded by jungles.
2. Cool and fresh air (I enjoyed this the most, feels so different compared to the city)
3. Cold and fresh mountain water (Freezing cold water, you'll shiver like crazy just to take a bath)
4. Off-road, muddy, terrible roads (Sorry, only 4WD allowed. Haha!)
5. Hilux and motorbike all around (Transportation)
6. Many churches (Christian community btw)
7. Food - Rice, wild boar..
8. Alcohol (Crazy, they can drink beer like drinking water)
9. Cigarette smoke (Ish... only thing that let me down)

Hope I didn't miss out any. Heh!

So now I'll just share some of my experiences there.

Day 1 - Sunday - 30/5/2010
At the moment we reached the airport, the air was completely different. There is where I first taste the sweet, fresh and cooling air with some gentle breeze.

Later in the afternoon, I went to see their source of electricity. The mini hydroelectric dam. Haha! Only a small area in Bario is powered.

Freezing cold mountain water.

This would be one of our important needs everyday.

There is a hill behind the school where I will go every evening to enjoy the fresh air and green scenery to rest my eyes.

The view of Bario.

Day 2 - Monday - 31/5/2010
Today was a tiring day after walking for long just to see the place where they make Bario salt.

The path we took, looks great yeah!

Finally, this is the hole where they collect underground salt water. Pretty impressive, wonder how did they discover such a place.
And below is where they burn the salt water to extract the salt. Expensive salt!

So after the long walk in the morning, decided to relax in the freezing cold water in the afternoon.
Trust me, it's really COLD!

And some modeling. Hahaha!

There are sheep too.

And this would be the school.

...to be continued
