Bario Trip - Part 2

Day 3 - Tuesday - 1/6/2010
Alright, today we decided to do some climbing. oO... The hill was really steep but good exercise though. Thumbs up!

There we go! We reached the church, where people come to pray sometimes. Wah! Imagine the path you need to go through, climb half dead just to reach here. The air there was cooler. Nice~

It's the end of harvest season. Here we see workers clearing up the paddy field, going to start their plantation in a month or two. Too bad I couldn't see the harvest season; everywhere is gold colour.

Day 4 - Wednesday - 2/6/2010

Home Sweet Home.

When I was in Bario, I totally forgot about everything especially my problems. As soon as I touched down in Miri airport, everything just come back to my mind again. Haih... wish I can live a life in Bario where you feel so free.

I really had a good rest over there, relax myself; away from the city life.

I would love to make a trip back there again.

...some day, I will.

Bario Trip - Part 1

Last Sunday, I was on my holiday trip with John to Bario; just came back two days ago. We took a flight using the Twin-Otter plane which took us about 50 minutes or you can travel by land from Miri using a 4WD for 12 hours(good weather condition). My accommodation and food were taken care, so I just need to pay for my air ticket.

The first thing in mind when we hear about that place would be their RICE. Yeah, no doubt it's a better kind of rice. But there are more things I've discovered during my stay over there.
Bario it's a highland located in a flat valley surrounded by mountains.

So here are few common things you find:-

1. First, it's a village surrounded by jungles.
2. Cool and fresh air (I enjoyed this the most, feels so different compared to the city)
3. Cold and fresh mountain water (Freezing cold water, you'll shiver like crazy just to take a bath)
4. Off-road, muddy, terrible roads (Sorry, only 4WD allowed. Haha!)
5. Hilux and motorbike all around (Transportation)
6. Many churches (Christian community btw)
7. Food - Rice, wild boar..
8. Alcohol (Crazy, they can drink beer like drinking water)
9. Cigarette smoke (Ish... only thing that let me down)

Hope I didn't miss out any. Heh!

So now I'll just share some of my experiences there.

Day 1 - Sunday - 30/5/2010
At the moment we reached the airport, the air was completely different. There is where I first taste the sweet, fresh and cooling air with some gentle breeze.

Later in the afternoon, I went to see their source of electricity. The mini hydroelectric dam. Haha! Only a small area in Bario is powered.

This would be one of our important needs everyday.

There is a hill behind the school where I will go every evening to enjoy the fresh air and green scenery to rest my eyes.

Day 2 - Monday - 31/5/2010
Today was a tiring day after walking for long just to see the place where they make Bario salt.

The path we took, looks great yeah!

Finally, this is the hole where they collect underground salt water. Pretty impressive, wonder how did they discover such a place.
And below is where they burn the salt water to extract the salt. Expensive salt!

So after the long walk in the morning, decided to relax in the freezing cold water in the afternoon.
Trust me, it's really COLD!

City Stay

From the previous post...

After staying for 1 night, we decided to move to the city. Hah! This one is concrete jungle. We stayed in Berjaya Times Square for 2 nights then come back PJ. Yes! In the city centre, so crowded, smelly, noisy, macam-macam punya people. Want to go around also so hard, taxi driver simply charge. LOL! I become taxi driver in city also untung. Besides staying in, I also went out with Luffy and Matthew. Go jalan-jalan and lepak lo. Go eat indian food with them until cirit-birit, really pain in the butt.

Multi-level shopping centre. Got about 10 levels I think.

Now end year sale, the stuff there quite reasonable also la.

Genting Trip

Just got back home in PJ after a few days out. We left for Genting on Tuesday, just a day trip there. For those who goes there, it would be for the Casino or Theme Park. Haha! I'm no longer interested in Theme Park. For casino, err... no money la! I seee people gamble until RM200,000++ also scared:p So we just walked around, look see look see then had lunch. There were lots of people that day, so many cars also. It's cooling but the place smells of exhaust la. LOL! Too crowded.

Well, we did not stay in Genting. Haiya, now holiday season hotel also fully book. The ones have vacancy so expensive. So we stayed somewhere further, at the foot of the highland. There still ok la, not cooling but at least away from the city so the air is fresher. Surrounded by jungles and mountains.

I just got back from Fraser's Hill. The journey there was quite tough, with all the bending roads going up. Sit in the car also pening kapala. Well, there's nothing much of fun over there. It's a place for those who wants to be away from the city, relaxing, looking at sceneries and enjoying the cool weather there. When we reached on Tuesday noon, the temperature was around 21C. As the night approaches, I think the temperature hit around 16C.

We stayed in Methodist House.

Rented an Inova for 3 weeks, which makes travelling easier.

It's misty up there, especially when the night approaches and morning.
